Leaving A Legacy

Brie with her beautiful family.
The death of Brie Gomez has really opened my eyes. She was killed in a head on collision on December 26th while driving home with her family from Christmas festivities. She was also 7 1/2 months pregnant with her 3rd child, a little boy, whom they delivered by c-section, at 3lbs 1oz, and is still in NICU as we speak. My heart just breaks for this family. A husband, now a widower...a spouse, now a single dad...3 children now motherless...a premature baby never held by his mom. Brie left behind a legacy for her children. She was a follower of God, and on her blogs, talked about Him often. She loved her children, her husband, her family, and her Father. Her last blog, which was posted on the day of her death, was only the lyrics to a song titled "Forever Reign." The words that I read were such an encouragement to me. Even on her last day, she was praising the name of Jesus!! One of the lines said, "In You death has lost its sting." WOW, talk about goosebumps. That is the kind of legacy I want to leave behind. A legacy filled with hope, strength, faith, and wisdom in our Father. A legacy that is of encouragement. A legacy that will touch the lives of others even after I'm long gone. A legacy that my children will be proud of. A legacy that no one will need to question my motives and heart's desires. Dear Father...create in me a legacy. Amen.

Since my blog was started because of Brie...I've used her background on my page...as a reminder of just how precious life is, and to not waste a minute of it. Here are the words from her last post:
Forever Reign lyrics

You are good, you are good
When there's nothing good in me
You are love, you are love
On display for all to see
You are light, you are light
When the darkness closes in
You are hope, you are hope
You have covered all my sin

You are peace, you are peace
When my fear is crippling
You are true, you are true
Even in my wondering
You are joy, you are joy
You're the reason that I sing
You are life, you are life
In you death has lost its sting

Chorus:
Oh, I'm running to your arms
I'm running to your arms
The riches of your love
Will always be enough
Nothing compares to your embrace
Light of the world forever reign

You are more, you are more
Than my words will ever say
You are Lord, you are Lord
All creation will proclaim
You are here, you are here
In your prescence I'm made whole
You are God, you are God
Of all else I'm letting go

Chorus:
Oh, I'm running to your arms
I'm running to your arms
The riches of your love
Will always be enough
Nothing comares to your embrace
Light of the world forever reign

Chorus:
I'm running to your arms
I'm running to your arms
The riches of your love
Will always be enough
Nothing compares to your embrace
Light of the world forever reign

My heart will sing no other name
Jesus, Jesus
My heart will sing no other name
Jesus, Jesus
My heart will sing no other name
Jesus, Jesus
My heart will sing no other name
Jesus, Jesus

Chorus:
Oh, I'm running to your arms
I'm running to your arms
The riches of your love
Will always be enough
Nothing compares to your embrace
Light of the world forever reign

Chorus:
I'm running to your arms
I'm running to your arms
The riches of your love
Will always be enough
Nothing compares to your embrace
Light of the world forever reign

"For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord." Romans 8:38

The Glover's 12/31/10

Natalee giving her baby a drink of her bottle!

She LOVES her baby!!
Wow, I can't believe that another year has come and gone! The Glover household has SO much to be thankful for! Here is the top TEN list of thankfulness for the year 20TEN!
  1. Natalee Grace is now ONE! We've made it through the 1st year of parenting!
  2. Jeremy and I are STILL happily married!
  3. We have a house...and nice things!
  4. God's grace covered all my sins this year!
  5. We found a new church home that we love and are involved in!
  6. Jeremy graduated with his bachelors AND landed a job at Boys Ranch in the same week.
  7. We are debt free (minus our home, car, and student loans)
  8. We never went hungry (that's obvious with the gym membership I'm about to start)
  9. I work WITH my daughter...in her classroom...at the mother's day out!
10. We have great friends, family, and fellowship!

Thank you LORD for the year of 2010! There is so much more to be thankful for...but I only have so much time! I pray that the year 2011 will be just as great! I know that there are a lot of things that I am looking to change...and no, I don't mean "New Year's Resolution" style...I mean REALLY change! I want to be more focused as a Christian, spend more quality time with those that I love, be more involved in church, and try to be more organized (story of my life!!). Now...I know that this list may sound like resolutions, but in all reality, this is the same list I've been working on for several years now! I know that this year will not be perfect either, but the fact is I'm trying, and I'm aware of what I need to improve on!! So here's to 2011...

We brought in the New Year just as a family! We watched Despicable Me, ordered a pizza, and played upstairs in our family room for the evening. We love that room...it's probably one of the favorites in our house.

"Do not (earnestly) remember the former things; neither consider the things of old. Behold, I am doing a new thing!" Isaiah 43:18-19

Birthday Baby

Daddy with the birthday girl!

At Cheddars for birthday lunch!

First cupcake at Belmar Bakery

She LOVED it!
I can't believe it...my baby's first birthday has come and gone! What a special day we had! Jeremy took off at noon on her actual birthday (December 29th). We ate at Cheddars for lunch. She got a grilled cheese and some steamed veggies! Next, we went to mardels and bought her the birthday girl Willow Tree doll. I love Willow Trees! They are all over my house...and each one has so much meaning. We took this opportunity to start her own collection. Finally, we went to Belmar Bakery where she got to indulge on her first cupcake! She ate it upside down...and even "growled" at me when I tried to turn it right side-up because she thought I was taking it away from her! She never ceases to amaze me. She is such a fast learner. As of now, she has been walking for about a month...really well for about 2 weeks or so. She never crawls anymore! She can say ball, baby, mama, daddy, blanket, diaper, that, and book. She can sign please and more. We are currently working on thank you and cup, I'm sure she will catch on quick! Everyday she learns something new.  My mom calls her the analyzer, or robocop baby, because she is always soaking in her surroundings! She really doesn't miss a thing! She loves bath time, only in the sink though. She is afraid of the shower curtain for some reason! That's OK with me, less bending over! She sleeps all night (and has since 3 months!). She LOVES food! She has eaten just about anything. I made all of her baby food, so she didn't just get the "normal" stuff. Some of her first foods includes avocado, fresh cherries and raspberries! She doesn't seem to like tomatoes at the moment though. I cannot get her to drink ANY milk! This is my newest challenge! She was breastfed, and just currently stopped, and she just doesn't want anything to do with it! I'm hoping that with enough tastes, she'll get used to it! I feel so blessed to have her in our lives. I don't think I remember what life was like without her now! This first year really flew by WAY too quick. You always hear people say that, but I don't think you really "know" what they mean until you have one of your own. I pray that God will continue to watch over and bless her, and that He will also lead, guide, and direct us to be the Godly parents she needs. Happy Birthday sweet girl!
